Protection and Advocacy forVoting Access (PAVA)
Through its Voting Access program, ADAP seeks to improve access to the voting process for individuals with disabilities. Services provided under this program include, but are not limited to: surveying polling sites throughout Alabama to determine any accessibility issues; offering voter registration information to persons who contact ADAP; publishing educational information regarding the rights of persons with disabilities in the voting process; and providing trainings to persons with disabilities, poll workers, and members of the general public explaining the rights of persons with disabilities in the voting process.
Polling Place Accessibility Checklist
ADAP and the League of Women Voters of Alabama have partnered to create a one-page survey that can be used to access polling locations for common barriers to accessibility. The survey is based upon federal accessibility standards under the Americans with Disabilities Act and voting system standards under the Help America Vote Act. The survey may be printed and mailed directly to ADAP. Click here, for a copy of the Checklist..
